It came with a crack at the handle.
There is a crack at the glue joint at the handle. Can see daylight through it and it continues around a knot in the handle section. Not happy at all!Got the replacement today and it is solid and attractive, will try it later. The replacement came packaged is bubblewrap while the original did not and the box was opened. Think I got a returned damaged part by mistake so I wrote DAMAGED on the returning peel box so someone else does not get this. Manufacturer replied to my email quickly and made sure I received another peel so now 4 stars.

I read a lot of reviews for wooden pizza peels before I ordered this item. I finally decided that this would be the one. I have to say I am very pleased not only with this item but with the customer service that I didn't even need from this company. Once they knew I had placed the order the owner sent a nice email stating he hoped I'd be happy with it and has the most unique, original way of informing you that your pizza peel is on its way. When the item arrived I was just thrilled with it - it is beautiful. And even more importantly than that, it is great for sliding pizzas off into my pizza oven. The pizza dough did not stick at all with the use of a little bit of cornmeal on it. It was so easy to use. Since I've never used a wooden one before I was not sure what to expect but I need have had no fears whatsoever. The peel is so pretty it is now hanging on the wall in my kitchen on display in between uses with my pizza oven. So, I plan to use the wooden one to place the pizza into the oven and my metal one to remove the pizza since I want to keep this one looking pretty. We made five pizzas over this weekend and the peel worked like a charm. I just cleaned it with a damp cloth when I was finished. The surface of the peel is very smooth, the grain is just beautiful, the pizza slides off easily, and I know I'm going to enjoy using this peel for very long time. The owner also sends you an email after you've received it just to check on how you liked your item. What more could a person ask for? Buy this one; you will love it.

When not in use, this peel gets a nice spot on the wall - not only because it is an efficient storage space, but because it has some nice wood grain.

I've used this peel fairly regularly for around 2 years and have had no issues caring for it. I started with giving it a nice mineral oil rub to ensure it had a nice coat to prevent wear and make sure it has well maintained so warping doesn't become an issue. Cleaning, because it is protected, doesn't seem to damage it and I try to minimize water exposure.

The short handle is great for inserting the pizza as I can direct it onto the stone fairly easily. However, retrieving the pizza is a little bit more of a challenge because the pitch of the wood around the edge is a bit steep. If you aren't careful, you can end up pushing the pizza back into the oven instead of lifting it onto the peel. Using parchment paper under the pizza has been a bit of a help in this case because you can pull the paper to coax it onto the peel. Steel peels are generally thinner and can get under the pizza a bit easier, but tend to stick uncooked pizza a bit more if trying to place into the oven. Might eventually get one, but for now parchment works well enough for this peel. I also transfer the pizza to a metal pizza pan afterwards to cut, so as to protect the peel from the cutting blade.

Overall - I have enjoyed this peel and will continue to use it for years to come.

I'm pretty serious about pizza. Some friends think it's more of an obsession. But if you're gonna get good at something, it's worth it to buy good tools.

I've had the same Sassafras wood peel for many many years, and it has been wonderful. But I make lots of pizzas at the same time, and having to wait for one to go into the oven before starting on the next one is a pain. It's a wood-fired oven, so I only have a few minutes to work on the next pizza before the one in the oven is done.

So I bought 2 of the Heritage peels. Now I can get 3 pizzas ready at the same time. It's enough for the first round and gets people fed about the same time. Then I can do round 2 and 3.

The peels are beautiful. So much so that my wife wants to hang them on the wall. Super super smooth, and very well made. Solid, but not overly heavy. About what you'd expect a dense, hard wood to feel like.

My only caution is that the pizzas didn't slide off as easily as they did on my old Sassafras peel. But I think that's just a result of them being new, and not being seasoned by lots of use.

For the low price, these are a great buy, and I highly recommend them.

Right out of the box, this looks like a quality peel made of very attractive wood. More importantly, the wood is nice and smooth, and the peel itself is a great size and can easily accommodate a 12" pie, if not more (I've seen plenty of complaints about other peels being laughably small, and fortunately that is not the case here). Unfortunately, upon washing it per product instructions after first use, I noticed that there was a crack where two pieces of wood were joined together that was worsened by a quick rinse. The peel still worked exactly as it should have, but I could tell that with repeated use, the right third of the peel would likely split off.

I contacted Sky Solutions about the issue via email yesterday (3/24/18) and received an apologetic response from one of their support reps within an hour. Once again, within an hour of submitting a photograph of the defective area on the peel, the same support rep got back to me to confirm that they would be shipping a replacement ASAP, with tracking details to follow.

Although the particular peel I received wasn't perfect, I can tell that this is a 5-star product. What's more, the company actually cares about its customers and is committed to making them as happy as possible.
